Itinerary

Day One:
Arrive Jacksonville, Florida

Experience warm southern hospitality in America’s southeast. Your tour begins in Jacksonville, where southern hospitality is second to none.

Day Two:
Jacksonville – St. Augustine – Jekyll Island, Georgia

Travel south to the United States’ oldest city, St. Augustine, first settled in 1565. Here you’ll enjoy a guided trolley tour highlighting top sightseeing spots and its shops and restaurants. Spend time at leisure this afternoon and come to know more of the city’s cultural attractions. Then travel north along the unspoiled coast of vast marshlands, winding rivers and beautiful beaches before arriving at the exclusive Jekyll Island Club Hotel. (B, D)

Day Three:
Jekyll Island – St. Simons Island – Jekyll Island

This morning, a tram brings you on a tour of the Jekyll Island Historic Landmark District – one of the nation’s largest restoration projects. Afterwards, journey to the quaint St. Simons Island. See its striking 106-foot tall lighthouse and visit the Museum of Coastal History. Later enjoy leisure time to explore the quaint shops and restaurants in the village. (B)

Day Four:
Jekyll Island – Savannah

Continue north this morning to historic Savannah. Here, you
will take in the ambiance of the “Old South” with a trolley tour highlighting Savannah’s sprawling Historic District. The stately mansions, beautiful squares and romantic riverfront are sure to make you fall in love with this city. Next, the beautiful Andrew Low House and Gardens await. Learn about the driving force behind the Girl Scouts and its founder, Juliette Low. This afternoon, visit the Bonaventure Cemetery made famous by the book and subsequent film, “Midnight in the Garden
of Good and Evil.” Then spend time exploring Factors Walk and River Street, where old cotton warehouses house trendy shops, taverns and restaurants. (B, D)

Day Five:
Savannah – Charleston, South Carolina

Travel north along the coast through South Carolina’s Low Country. Later arrive in beautiful antebellum Charleston where magnificent formal gardens grace much of the Historic District. (B)

Day Six:
Charleston

Charleston is a city of elegance, charm and grace. Today, a local guide joins you to show you its cobblestone streets, historic homes and restored buildings. Continue on to City Market and meet a local artisan to learn about the tradition of weaving Gullah sweetgrass baskets. Following your city tour, the choice is yours! Choose to explore Boone Hall Plantation where you’ll experience southern plantation living as you come to know one of America’s oldest working plantations. Or, you may opt to explore Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum where you’ll board the impressive USS Yorktown aircraft carrier. You’ll also have time at the Congressional Medal of Honor Museum and to marvel at the largest collection of military aircraft in the United States. This evening, enjoy a local specialty – the famous she-crab soup at dinner. (B, D)

Day Seven:
Charleston

Today, you will depart for home. Your days spent experiencing true southern charm and gracious hospitality will stay dear to your heart for years to come. (B)
