Greece Intensive with Venice City Stay

If the best of Greece could be bundled into just 10 days, this is it: a powerhouse line-up of ancient sites, friendly seaside tavernas and shops, and whitewashed villages—plus a luxurious day at sea in between island hopping for relaxing and recharging.

Rolling hills, sheltered coves, and beautiful beaches await you in Spetses, where cars are banned in the only town on the island. Mykonos charms with shops, bars, and restaurants tucked next to traditional whitewashed homes and churches. On Rhodes, ponder a knight’s life as you stroll the old medieval town.

Next it’s on to two Cretan ports: the quaint fishing village of Agios Nikolaos, and Chania with its beautiful Venetian harbor, Minoan ruins, and Byzantine churches, as well as the amazing Samaria Gorge.

The beautiful green island of Zakynthos, with its massive limestone cliffs and surreal turquoise waters, is truly spectacular. Igoumenitsa is a lush lively city where you can stroll the sandy stretches of Drepanos and Makrygiali or get in touch with its ancient past at the Monasteries of Meteora. Enjoy a late-night stay in Kotor, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the Adriatic.

The voyage ends with a relaxing and luxurious day at sea—perfect for pampering at Sanctum Spa or hitting the gym after all that mouth-watering Greek food—before disembarking in Venice.

Itinerary

DAY 1: Piraeus (Athens), Greece

Start your journey in Piraeus with an archaeological walk past landmarks like the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Ancient Agora, and of course, the Acropolis. Afterwards, head to the Central Market for a feast of fresh fruit and veggies, nuts, olives, and Grecian cheese. Finally, check out a local taverna where you can rub elbows with the locals well into the wee hours of the night.

DAY 2: Spetses, Greece

Rolling hills blanketed by pine forests, sheltered coves with sandy beaches, and crystal clear waters await you in Spetses.

DAY 3: Mykonos, Greece

Picture perfect is the best way to describe Mykonos. Idyllic in every way, from the brilliant blue water in its harbor to the rows of 16th-century Venetian windmills, Mykonos is a postcard come to life! Spend your days strolling delightful cobblestone streets and visiting artisan craft shops. And when the sun goes down, discover why locals refer to this hedonistic city as the Ibiza of Greece!

DAY 4: Rhodes (Lindos), Greece

First on your agenda should be the Rhodes waterfront where once stood the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Just a short ride away, the medieval town of Lindos features houses stacked like giant sugar cubes on a steep hill. Hitch a donkey ride to the acropolis at the top for spectacular views of the town and Saint Paul’s Bay.

DAY 5: Agios Nikolaos, Crete

Known for having “three faces to the sea”, this port on Crete’s east coast seamlessly blends the charm of a small fishing village with the glamor of a chic resort town. The perfect base for exploring smaller islands around Crete, it’s easy to create your own personal paradise in Agios Nikolaos.

DAY 6: Chania, Crete, Greece

Venetian splendor gives Crete’s second largest city a distinctly Italian air. Greek and Ottoman influences add to the city’s unique history and culture—each era certainly worth exploring. Framed by a dramatic mountain backdrop, Chania is an exceptional destination for history buffs, with plenty of tavernas and cafés to recharge after a day of discovery.

DAY 7: Zakynthos, Greece

You’ll find this small island packs a punch—from its sheer cliffs to its pristine beaches. In the capital—also named Zakynthos—you’ll see traces of the island’s time as an overseas colony of Venice. The best preserved example from this period is the Venetian castle atop Bochali Hill where a bird’s-eye view of the town and panoramic sea views will have you feeling on top of the world.

DAY 8: Igoumenitsa, Greece

Surrounded by pine-topped hills, beautiful beaches, and crystal blue waters, Igoumenitsa is also a lively city with many shops, cafes, and restaurants. Stroll the sandy stretches of Drepanos and Makrygiali. Explore the sycamore-lined seaside road and park. Get in touch with the ancient past at the castle of Doliani, located near the settlement of Geroplatanos, which dates back to the Classical period.

DAY 9: Kotor, Montenegro

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kotor is filled with churches, shops, bars, restaurants, and hidden piazzas. (The latter are perfect for enjoying Montenegrin wines like the red Vranac or dry white Krstač.) The entire city is surrounded by stone, both in the form of imposing Mount Saint John and by towering ancient walls, creating a cozy feeling of protection when you walk the cobblestone streets.

DAY 10: At Sea

Spend the day sailing in style aboard your boutique hotel at sea. Indulge in a treatment at Sanctum Spa, stay ship shape with a class at our fitness center, or lounge the day away on our sunny pool deck.

In the evening, savor inspired Italian cuisine at Aqualina, or relish in a classic steakhouse experience at Prime C. Plus, you’ll find plenty of exciting evening entertainment, from thrilling shows at Cabaret Lounge to intimate performances in the Living Room.

DAY 11: Venice, Italy

Experience Venice, one of the most captivating—and romantic—cities in the world. Tour the city’s cobblestone streets and overarching bridges, or take to the water and explore the canals on a water taxi or gondola. As you make your way through the city, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to shop, sample delicious Veneto wines, or people watch in Piazza San Marco.

Shop for fresh produce and seafood at the Rialto Market, then go to a Venetian villa for a hands-on cooking class, where you’ll prepare a traditional meal, paired with wines. Try historic techniques at a local mask-making workshop, and enjoy a unique “aperitif on board” experience as you explore the city, islands, and lesser-known canals of Venice from an elegant motorboat. Your Venetian stay also includes three nights’ accommodation, select meals, and transportation services from the port to the hotel, concluding with a prearranged driver taking you to the airport.

Venice City Stay

Take a private boat from Rialto Bridge to a villa for a private, hands-on cooking class. Prepare your food bought earlier at the market, and find perfect wine pairings. Mix world-famous cocktails such as the Spritz and Bellini, then sit down and enjoy the meal you prepared.

Discover the world of local artisans. Your first stop with your guide will be a mask factory and shop, where friendly staff teach you about the masks’ importance, and roots in Carnival customs. Try traditional techniques for yourself at a mask-making workshop. Next, have an “aperitif on board”. It’s a unique experience that lets you explore the city, islands, and lesser-known canals of Venice from a “watery” perspective, while enjoying the typically Venetian ritual of the aperitif. Aboard an elegant motorboat, sample excellent local wines or delicious champagne, plus appetizing snacks. Journey out into the Venice Lagoon, to admire cityscapes, sunsets, and experience the Lagoon at its most romantic.

DAY 4: Depart Venice

After breakfast, you’ll have the day at leisure to get some last-minute shopping done, before your prearranged driver takes you to the airport in time for your departing flight.
