2004 Nissan Titan 4×2 SE

A Sports Car for the True Enthu-Z-ist.
Design, power train, and drive.

By its very appearance, the Nissan Titan is a very big truck with muscle to boot. This half-ton 4-door pickup, powered by an 5.6 Litre, 32 valve V-8, combined with a 5-speed automatic transmission, produces power to spare. So much so that Trailer Boats magazine named the Titan the 2004 Tow Vehicle of the Year and Four Wheeler Magazine selected it as the Pickup Truck of the Year.

Going from 2-wheel drive to 4-wheel drive and back requires a simple turn of a lower dash-mounted switch.

Other exterior design highlights include rear doors that open almost flat and a storage compartment built into the rear bedside panel. The bed sports an innovation that Nissan calls its Utili-track system, a versatile tie-down system in which tie points slide along a channel and simply and securely positioned according to cargo size.

Riding smoothly on 18-inch wheels, the Titan handles nicely and grips the road through the sharpest of turns.

Comfort and safety

The Titan′s bigness translates to interior roominess. Five passengers fit comfortably in this truck. Rear seat passengers, sitting on a full-size bench seat, will be impressed with the leg room. In the forward compartment, the driver and passenger sit in heated adjustable captain′s chairs featuring flip-down armrests. Dash mounted accessory controls are within easy reach and simple to manage; oversized speedometer and fuel, alternator and oil gauges can be read at a glance. Located in the larger-than-usual center console, which has room to store a laptop computer, are two large upholders. Storage compartments mounted on the doors are large enough to hold papers, maps, books and even water bottles. If more room is needed, the rear seat folds up and the front passenger seat folds flat.

Built of high-strength steel, the Zone Body construction and side impact door beams enhance passenger safety. In addition, the Titan comes equipped with the front, side and side curtain air bags. A front passenger seat sensor deactivates that side′s airbag if the seat is empty.

The rear passenger compartment has the LATCH system for child safety seats and 3-point safety belts are in all seating positions. Large, heated exterior mirrors provide good views of side and rear traffic.

For those who want more, Nissan delivers with its premium equipment package. Included are a DVD player, in-dash 6 CD changer, a navigation system and power adjustable pedals.

With its many features and roominess, the Titan has much to offer the outdoors enthusiasts.
